My book review for March is for the book: “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode; 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life”, written by Crystal Paine, published by Thomas Nelson. The book retails for about $28.49 CDN at Chapters and was released on January 20th, 2014.
This book really appealed to me as in the past couple years I’ve experienced huge growth in my photography business and have felt at times, well overwhelmed. I really appreciated Crystal’s honesty, especially in her book intro about how this book isn’t for everyone, and how each suggestion and idea isn’t necessarily for everyone’s situation. However I found for the most point that she gave some great tips and reminders on how to become more self disciplined, how to set and keep goals, how to manage your time, money and home, how to experience less stress and more joy and how to keep a balanced life perspective.
One part of the book I really enjoyed was where she talked about SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound). She broke it down really well and I’ve been using this to do my goal setting.
Overall, I loved reading this book. It has some great life organizational tips and is very easy to understand and implement the ideas. This book is on my shelf in my office, and I plan to reference it when I can. I give it a 5 out of 5.
